Time to Get the 2009 Season Underway

I can't believe it's almost the end of March and I haven't started a single seedling yet. I do have a reason for being behind, though - I bought a house!

Yes, I finally found a house I could afford and completed the long, arduous journey to home-ownership on March 3 and I'm still in the process of moving in. I've got everything I need to function, but still have a full 10'x25' storage unit full of more furniture and goodness knows what else to get here and settled.

I have almost an acre of land so I will be able to have a 'real' garden this year - hurray! Since I'm still busy with so many other things and have a new puppy too, I don't know how much of a garden it will be this first year, but I am determined to get my hands dirty and get something in the ground.

There are already a few daffodils and tulips scattered around, but I'm not sure what's what yet. Here's a shot of one bunch of daffodils that are coming up, and I know there are more of this variety in a few other places.

Don't you just love seeing those bright snatches of color 'springing' up all over, reminding us of new life?

Why would anyone plant this silly bush in the middle of this tree, right outside the back door? Not to mention there are stepping stones that lead nowhere. Hmmm ...

I certainly have my work cut out for me, but I am ever so thankful that I have the opportunity to do it!

I am sooooo looking forward to this blog! It seems I've turned into my parents and now WANT to dig in the dirt! Who would've thunk it?! :)
