The girls like the outside nest boxes in the smaller coop, and I wanted them on the big coop to free up more floor space. Having the nest boxes outside will allow more room to move around and also more breathing space come winter when they'll be cooped up for longer periods of time with the cold temps and shorter days.

None of the girls seemed interested in going in yet, so I put the
dishpan (their old nest box) in there to give them a clue
Finished boxes from inside |
The photo above makes the nest boxes look pretty small, but they're much
larger than they look from that angle. I could almost fit two dishpans in there.

Nice looking boxes! We need to built new ones. LOL :~) Just something else to add to the "to do" list! Hope they are laying well for you.

Lurch considers himself barnyard supervisor, doesn't he? My cats always supervise when Alb does any outdoor work. Even if it has nothing to do with them. Good work. My WIP is (well along with my attitude), a general purging of the house. I working with the hoarders in residence (Emma and Dad) to dung out their respective areas, while I dung the upper floor. It felt great to bring a trunk and back seat full of toys, clothes and household to our local mission thrift store. I guess our nest boxes are getting a facelift too.
I really like the nest boxes. What a great job you did. I need to do some work on mine.
How neat!
I'm in checking out the links added that I missed in last weeks WIP
They're wonderful and made with enviable precision. Great job! Lovely new ID photo you have, too. Ü
