And Then There Were ... Chickens!

With this diet I'm following I eat eggs every morning and know I should be eating eggs that are healthier than those found in the grocery store. I suppose I could buy fresh eggs from local sources, but where's the fun in that?

(BTW, I've lost 26 lbs so far)

Call me crazy, but I decided to take the plunge and picked up a few hens of my own.

Meet 'the girls' ...

They decided that under the coop was a pretty neat place to go, but I can't get under there very well to scoot them out when needed, so decided to close it off.

They seem to be adjusting nicely to their new home.

I have six young ladies that are just coming of age to start laying. One has blessed me with three eggs so far and the others shouldn't be far behind. I know I'll get few during the shorter days in winter months, but I'm happy with every egg I do get.
